Young Galaxy

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

Young Galaxy is one of the bands I listen a lot to at the moment. They’re from Canada, and is fronted by former Stars touring guitarist Stephen Ramsay (and there are two other Stephen’s in the band as well + Stephen’s girlfriend Catherine + Pat + Susan = 6 bandmembers). Their music is not very different from Stars, – a bit “wider” and “spacier” maybe. I’m not going to say more, – just that they have a great album out …

Last.fm has shown me a lot of new music, and via a recommendation from one of my last.fm-friends I found today’s band, ELENETTE. They are swedish and sing in swedish, but according to their own blog, fans are writing about them from all over the world. So, you don’t have to understand what “kuken är tung att bära” means to enjoy their charming and sweet 80s inspired pop music. If you DO know swedish, you should give the lyrics a listen. …

Little Things

Sometimes I find little things that make my day. It can be the way the sun shines through the trees, a word someone says, a smell or a sound that reminds me of something, – or a piece of music made by Little Things. Two songs received by email have been played over and over again. Open up for LOVE DANCE

Posted on by Ivar in Nordic music, Reviews | Comments Off

Love Dance started out in 2005 as a three piece Indie Pop band based in Bergen, Norway. They actually met in the stands at Brann Stadion following their favourite football team SK Brann Bergen. They started to talk and they soon found out that they shared the same taste in music. They formed a band called Try Happiness. But happiness didn’t work out for them (!) so they changed the name to Love Dance. After a while they signed with …

Sportsday Megaphone

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

Oh, I love the sound of this band!Electronic blips and drummachine-handclaps combined with rough indierock guitars and vocals with attitude. Electro-Powerpop, maybe? Sometimes pure pop, other times full of raw energy and punk-flavor. Sportsday Megaphone combine elements of several musical styles, and their sound is highly original, yet very accessible. This one man band from London has released a brilliant ep called “Less and Less” earlier this year on Sunday Best records (it’s available on iTunes), and if you are …
