Arctic Monkeys’ second album

April 25th, 2007 by Ivar

The guys in Artic Monkeys will soon release their second album. Eardrums have had a chance to listen to the new CD called “Favourite Worst Nightmare”.

The four lads from Sheffield, UK had a tremendous hit with their debut album “Whatever I Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not”. The album is actually said to be the best selling debut album in the United Kingdom ever. They also are a living proof of the power of Myspace – becoming the first band that reached a mass audience through internet.

The album starts with the very agressive single “Brainstorm”, and to be honest; after a while it feels like someone actually have stormed my brain. After three or four listens the contour of the song emerges. Bald choice for the first single because this is not as catchy as their debut single “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor”!

The first really catchy song on the album is song number five “Fluorescent Adolesent”. It hits you the first time you listens to it. Next song out is the quiet “Only ones Who Know” and again I like what I hear. The album ends with the great “505″.

Most of the songs are fast and energetic, angry and restless. I like the melodic and slower side of AM. But there are probably songs for every taste on “Favourite Worst Nightmare”.

I’ve just got to add that I think this album is absolutely fantastic. The fast and energetic songs are what Arctic Monkeys are all about! That’s what makes the album so great. I’ve noticed that I actually skip the slow ones, because I don’t think they really capture AM..Balaclava, Teddy Picker, D is for Dangerous, This house is a circus and If you were there, beware, are so amazing that I really don’t how to express my enthusiasm! :)

Big mistake! Arctic Monkeys first single is called BRIANstorm, not brainstorm. so if” it feels like someone actually have stormed my brain.” Don’t blame the title of the song. And I agree with Lotte, Favourite Worst Nightmare is a significant album!

    BRIAN also storms my brain!
