Elenette hates men and loves 80s music, or do they?

Last.fm
has shown me a lot of new music, and via a recommendation from one of my last.fm-friends I found today’s band, ELENETTE. They are swedish and sing in swedish, but according to their own blog, fans are writing about them from all over the world. So, you don’t have to understand what “kuken är tung att bära” means to enjoy their charming and sweet 80s inspired pop music.
If you DO know swedish, you should give the lyrics a listen. I don’t think I’ve heard bands write lyrics like this before, – very original in a pop-context.

On their myspace-page, they mention that they are influenced by Indochine’s guitars, Vince Clarke’s synths, Japan’s basslines, Spandau Ballet’s clothes, Bryan Ferry’s productions, Nik Kershaw’s hit-feeling, Howard Jones’ smile and Midge Ure’s moustaches. Beautiful references! They also mention the theories of feminist philosopher Judith Butler, and several of the band’s songs are about the gender-theme.
Elenette has so far released two cd-r’s called “tvilingarna” (the twins), and will release more of their music as a cdr release on Snowday records.

Enjoy the music of Elenette!

Elenette – att göra en hit

Elenette – jag hatar män
Elenette – kärlekskomplexet

(…and look through their blog (link above) and you’ll find even more songs)
