eardrums: @jwojwo Yes it is. My favs are Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Dots and Loops, but they haven't released any bad albums in my opinion. 11 hours ago
Sufjan Stevens recently did a performance on the 50th Take Away-show. The performance was filmed at the MusicNow-festival in Cincinnati, and Sufjan’s performance is only a part of the recording. Other artists are Havlovi, David Cossin, Pedro Soler, Clogs & Shara “My Brightest Diamond” Worden, Osso Quartet and Amiina, but of course Sufjan was listed as the “headliner”.
For me, Sufjan’s performance was good, but it was the least interesting on this show. Just listen to the parts where especially the icelandic string quartet Amiina (also known as Sigur Rs’ string players), Osso Quartet (they are the string quartet who performs with Sufjan Stevens and My Brightest Diamond) and Clogs/Shara Worden performs. Amazing!
Amiina rules my world right now. This is heavenly music!

Founder of the swedish band This Year’s Model, Niklas, says that this was the solo project that never came to be. The solo deal with a legendary indielabel was signed, but things changed. He soon teamed up with Ylva Lindberg (from Friday Bridge), Henric Strmberg and Mattias Svensson. The solo deal with german indie-label March Marigold Rec. was changed to a band deal instead.
They first said hello to the world in 2005 with a 7 inch vinyl single called Greetings from This Year’s Model, and this summer they will release their debut CD The Clock Strikes Ten. The album contains fifteen sweet jingly jangly guitar popsongs, accomplished with piano and harpsichords. For more songs listen to the bands Myspace. This Year’s Model – Ten O’Clock Murder
This is a post about Maria Eriksson, and I am trying to use as few words as possible because my brain does not feel very creative today. It is not Maria’s fault. Sorry Maria. Here are the keywords for today’s story. Make it up yourself.
Maria Eriksson. Santa Maria. The Concretes. Heikki. Guitar. Vocals. Songwriter. Sweden. Self-titled debut album. Slottet Records.
The new single from LEVY, “Glorious”, is stuck on repeat in the Eardrums office. I’m not in the mood for lots of words today, and I guess it is enough to say that I love the song, I can’t wait for the new album that will be out in September on One Little Indian and that the weather outside my window today is not as Glorious as the music on my stereo….
The man behind the vocals in Mixtapes & Cellmates, Robert Svensson, has announced that he will release his debut soloalbum on the swedish label Nomethod records. He is currently working on the album at his home in Stockholm, and it is scheduled for release on October 10. The label will also release a free digital EP prior to the albumrelease. According to the Nomethod, this will not be your typical acoustic guitar singer-songwriter type of record, and Robert has been working without boundaries when he has written the songs for the album. Could be interesting!
At the moment, there isn’t much info available on his website, but we’ll keep our eyes open for updates. We have no previews for you yet on his solostuff (we’ve been promised to get something within a few weeks), but we do have something from his band. Here are three songs from Mixtapes and Cellmates, – the first single from their recently released debut album, a coversong and a remix of another song of theirs. Mixtapes & Cellmates – Quiet Mixtapes & Cellmates – Photo Jenny (Belle and Sebastian -cover) Mixtapes & Cellmates – C you d road home (Bauri remix) (All of these songs can be found on the label’s site as two zipped EP’s, including several other remixes and more nice stuff).
