Twelve Thursday Tunes, week 25 (Updated!)

June 21st, 2007 by Knut

[UPDATED: I have learnt to count to 12! Finally!]
Another Thursday, and twelve tracks for you to listen to. It’s kind of embarrassing this time, because I just uploaded the page with only 11 songs, – I don’t think counting is my strongest side… Now that’s fixed, and I’ve uploaded a song by Silence at Sea to complete the 12 tracks.
The songs are collected from various band/label/promo/magazine-sites around the web, andI like them all. The image above is borrowed from a t-shirt design at Threadlesscalled “Musical Meditation”, and I thought it would fit well in here today. Let’s meditate to some good music!

Silence at sea – memorise everything
- from this cute Cardiff-band’s myspace. They describe themselves as “sappy folk music with sweet lady-singing, plinky plonky guitar and robot drums”. Well, I’m not sure about that, but I’m sure that I like it! (myspace)

Maps – Elouise
- one of my favourite tracks from one of my favourite albums, “we can create”. From insound.com.

Radio Orkestra – Radio Towers
- Canadian band with several downloads on their site. This is from their latest album “Life with the machines”.

Taxi Taxi! – all Ithink of
- Fantastic Swedish duo, with a greatep out just now. Amazing vocal work, – reminds me of Elizabeth Fraser, Bjrk ++. A couple of other songs are available from their myspace. This is a free track from last.fm.

Miracle Fortess – Have you seen in your dreams
- dreamy, psychedelic, pop, joy division synths, wall of sound, broken social scene-guitars…. get the idea? Just listen. From insound.

Montag – Best Boy Electric
- another one of my favourite albums this summer, Canada’s Montag and his new album “Going Places”. Electronic warmth and beauty, with collaborations from several indie stars. This one was found on betterpropaganda.com.

The Seabellies – Drain the lake
- A very nice band from Australia. They have an ep out now, I think, and this track is from the ep. The song is found on Triple J Unearthed.

The Polyphonic Spree – Running away
- this pop-orchestra is out with a new album right now, and this song is taken from it. Found on stereogum.com.

Kakkmaddafakka – Crazy on the dancefloor
Bergen’s (Norway’s) new live-heroes with the coolest bandname in the world, Kakkmaddafakka. From NRK Urrt.

Arthur & Yu – Come to view (song for Neil Young)
- The Seattle duo has a new album out these days, “In Camera”. This song is from their label,Hardlyart.com

The Loves – Summertime
- Great song from a great band from the UK. This is from their new album “Technicolour”, out on FortunaPop. This was found on their myspace, where you can find more downloads from them too.

Red Pony Clock – Here comes the sun
- 8 member psychedelic indiepop mini-orchestra from San Diego, California, playing something that sounds like The Beach Boys (…eh, now I was going to say “The Beach Boys on drugs” but since The Beach Boys probably were on drugs when they made their nicest sounds, I just don’t know what to say…. – they sound a bit messed up and they sound like the Beach Boys…. and quite psychedelic…. and I like them…oh, just listen!). I fell in love with this band on myspace, and found this on their labels pages.
