Pipedream

Well..it should be! Pipedream consist of a group of gentlemen in the beginning of their twenties, and they originate from various parts of Norway. And I gotta say, it amazes me that this band is still unsigned…….it’s a shame.

I’ve unfortunately missed all of Pipedreams’ concerts in Norway, and it’s immensely regrettable.. Their music makes its way to your soul that almost makes you want to cry. I love the way they jump between different beats, riffs and moods in their music. Reminds me a lot of Mew…and THAT’S a compliment :) The vocal is vulnerable and fantastic, the beats are original, and the use of instruments are creative and just…perfect. For me, that’s the only word that could describe Pipedream. Perfect.

Mew, Radiohead, Colour of fire, Carpark North..these are some of my favourite bands. They are also some of Pipedreams influences. I’m tempted to put Pipedream at the top of my list of favourites…

New release from Blue Foundation

October 25th, 2007 by Ivar

The danes in Blue Foundation have recently released their new album "Life of a Ghost". The Copenhagen based bands major break came with the release of their 2nd album “Sweep of Days”, where the song “Sweep” appeared in Michael Mann’s “Miami Vice – The movie” (2006). The bands music is often described as a mix between rock, pop end electronica.

The great moody song "Hero across the Sky" is in the same landscape as their fellow countrymen i Mew in their "Frengers" period. The second song I found, "Talk to Me", shows the more poppier side of the band.

Nice music from Soft

October 24th, 2007 by Ivar

“Droppin’” starts gentle with vocalist Johnny Reineck’s smoothe voice, some nice modest guitar picking and a lovely drumbeat. The song gets more intence as the guitars gets a bit louder and active, but the nice drive from the drummer is the same throughout the whole song - wich gives this tune a nice calm touch in my ears.

Is this the beginning of a 90s revival? Don’t know, but this song should be perfect listening material for fans of the heyday of Creation Records. Like myself.

The newyorkers in Soft released their debut album “Gone Faded” October 23.

Dancing to Joy Division with The Wombats

October 23rd, 2007 by Ivar

This Norwegian/UK trio based in Liverpool have recieved good reviews and done some great climbing on the UK Charts with their single "Let’s Dance to Joy Division".

The Wombats
started as a band when Tord Oeverland Knudsen moved to Liverpool four years ago to study. He soon teamed up with songwriter Murph and after a couple of weeks the band was formed. They describe their music as energetic, indie, post-rock, with lyrics full of trauma combined with Beach Boys harmonies (!).

There is a ghost!

October 22nd, 2007 by Sarah Winona

It is called Band of Horses, and this amazing indie-rock band has been haunting me since I heard their first album "Everything All the Time", which was released in 2006. I never really got "The Great Salt Lake", (which is the best track on the album, if you ask me) out of my head before they released their new single " Is there a Ghost" a couple of weeks ago. Now their new album "Cease to Begin" has reached the stores, and oh my!

I nearly cried when I heard "Is There a Ghost" for the first time, but what brought the tears eventually was realizing that "Cease to Begin" is completely marvelous, all the way through."Cease to begin" will make you cry, smile, and perhaps make you think, as vocalist Benjamin Bridwell sings; "The Wold is such a Wonderful place". It is true. Band of Hoses makes the world to a much better place. Please, do not miss this album!
