Park Hotell – Swedish pop-energy – You’ll love this!

First, let me just say that this post was made possible because the brilliant music blog The Finest Kiss wrote a short piece about this band last week. Before that, I had never heard of these guys. Another brilliant thing about The Finest Kiss is their name, which comes from a song-title by one of my all time favourite bands, The Boo Radleys. So, if you are not a regular reader of The Finest Kiss, you should be, and if you are not a regular listener to The Boo Radleys, you should be that too.

So, what does this lead to? I’ve already used the word brilliant a few times in this post, so how should I describe the band I’m writing about here? Well, – they ARE brilliant!

The band is called Park Hotell, they are a trio and they come from Luleå, a beautiful city in the northern parts of Sweden.
I have a special relationship with this city, because we went there on holiday several times when I was a kid. It was the furthest south we could get in Sweden before I got extremely car sick and we just had to stop… This seems to be the day for digressions….

Ok, let’s try again: Park Hotell is a trio from this fine city, Luleå, and they have recently released their first ep on Glorycrew records, the 6 track "the guest who stayed forever" EP (can be bought from parasol, or as downloads here). They don’t like to be compared to anybody, so I won’t, but they play mostly upbeat indie with a strong focus on the bass and roots somewhere in the 80s and 90s, – and before I start to compare, I’ll hurry to say that some of their roots probably lived in Manchester during the 80s… I didn’t compare now, did I??

Let the music speak: This is pop, nothing more than that…
