These are some of my absolute favourite blogs from my blogroll (see the left sidebar). The list is randomized from a larger list of my favourites, and it will change at every visit:
Hey Willpower released a fantastic electro-pop album called P.D.A. last year through Tomlab, - one of my top 10 of 2006, if I remember correctly. The album was never released in USA, but in january 2008 the Americans will be able to get a new version of this fine album. The US version will have one extra track, new cover-art and a different track sequence. The extra track is a cover of Architecture in Helsinki’s "Heart It Races". The band will be touring the US in the Spring of 08, including several appearances at SXSW in March. The street date of the album is january 22, 2008.
I’m not going to say much, other than that this is definitely my favorite new find this month, and the full "Vestibule" EP (more like an album if you ask me) is given away for free through the fine netlabel Luv Sound. Who am I talking about?
The artist is called INLETS, and the main man behind the project is Sebastian Krueger. Krueger.is also playing with My Brightest Diamond (another of my absolute favorite artists). I’m not ready to describe this music yet, but if you like bands like Final Fantasy, Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond and Books, you’ll probably love this. Definitely worth checking out!
Shara Worden from MBD is assisting on the EP, and some of the other musicians from the Sufjan/MBD-tcrew is also particiating. One of them is Marla Hansen, who released a nice album earlier this year. She plays viola and sings on some of the songs.
Some students from Södertörns högskola has made a short documentary about the Swedish band Elenette. There are some nice live sequences in the movie + interviews with the band (in Swedish, but I guess it could be interesting for more than the Swedish speaking audience).
…and here’s one of the many free Elenette tracks you can get at last.fm:
Toronto shoegazers Fjord Rowboat have been active since the fall of 2004 and have recently released their debut album "Saved the Compliments for Morning". This is guitar based indie rock in the same landscape as bands like Ride and Catherine Wheel.
