Best of 2007?
Looking back on 2007, I realise this has been an exceptionally good year for something I vagely define as indie-rock. I actually don’t like to use this label, but I guess you’ll know what i’m talking about.
Anyway. I’m a big fan of lists, and the time has come to evaluate the music 2007 has been so kind to offer us. It started so well with The Shins and Arcade Fire’s new albums, and it just kept on coming exceptional music throughout the year!
So. I made this list. And you should know that this is only my list. You may not even like it at all. But these are my absolute favorite albums in 2007, and I was thinking that if you perhaps wonder what to give your friends, lovers or parents this christmas, you may find one, or several of these albums quite agreeable.
Starting at the bottom (but you should know it is very hard to range..)
15. Klaxons – Myths of the near Future (myspace)

14. 1990’s – Cookies (myspace)

13. White Stripes – Icky Thump (myspace)

12. Kaiser Chiefs – Yours Truly, Angry Mob (myspace)

11. Cloud Cult – The Meaning Of 8 (myspace)

10. Bright Eyes – Cassadaga (myspace)

9. Blonde Redhead – 23 (myspace)

8. Architecture in Helsinki – Places Like This (myspace)

7. Radiohead – in Rainbows (myspace)

6. Babyshambles – Shotter’s Nation (myspace)

5. Band of Horses – Cease to Begin (myspace)

4. Arctic Monkeys – Favourite Worst Nightmare (myspace)

3. Modest Mouse – We Were Dead Even Before The Ship Sank (myspace)

2. Arcade Fire – Neon Bible (myspace)

1. The Shins – Wincing The Night Away (myspace)

So. My favourite album of 2007 is The Shins – Wincing the Night Away! (But you should know it was a close call with Arcade Fire). If you haven’t heard Wincing the night away yet, it is about time you do! (Perhaps something to start the new year with) Me, I’m looking forward to another great year of music in 2008!

Nice list, Sarah! I had planned to drop the list this year, because it was just too many good ones to choose from, but maybe I’ll put down something… I think I’m listening to one of my tops right now: Silje Nes: Ames Room. Wonderful album!
