Northern Fields – new project from Celestial’s Andreas Hagman

A new project has emerged from the productive main force behind Sweden’s Celestial, Andreas Hagman. The project is called Northern Fields, and I’ve just received a beautiful 5 track ep which has been played over and over again in my house the last couple of days. Northern Fields sound very "Swedish indie" (- in my private dictionary that means highly melodic popmusic filled with jangly guitars and that sweet, lovely, summery sound).
In Celestial, Hagman is the only one with a "member" status, and all other musicians are "special guests". I’m not sure how much he is involved on the songwriter side in Northern Fields, but this seems to be more of a team project.
Two of the other Northern Fields members are also involved in Celestial, Pär Carlsson on bass and Kent Cederström on drums, and fans of Celestial will probably feel very comfortable with the sound of this new project.
Ulrika Nymark does the vocals in Northern Fields, and it is a delight to listen to her warm vocals on these songs. I’m not sure about her background, other than that she has been in a band from Örebro called Holland.
Northern Fields has two guitarists, which gives them a tight, sharp sound. One of them is Andreas Hagman, with his characteristic jangly guitar sound, and the other one is Martin Bolinder.
You can listen to all of the songs on the EP on the band’s myspace.
