Summer Cats with new video

Posted on by Knut in Other | Comments Off

Summer Cats, the lovely pop-quintet from Melbourne, Australia,  has made a wonderful video for their cloudberry-7″ single “Lonely Planet”. The song is very nice by itself, and together with this video, it gets even nicer! Come on people, get out on the floor and dance! I just have to learn some of those dancing steps… BTW, Summer Cats will be one of the many bands that we will feature on our upcoming EARDRUMS SUMMER ALBUM! I didn’t tell you about …

Renfro – “mathematics” – soulful electronics to calm you down

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Reviews | Comments Off

. Well, you should know by now that my taste in music is wide. Electronic music made with soul and intelligence has always been close to my heart. Renfro is one of the recent electronica artists that has made my heart jump a little faster. Based in East London & North Devon, UK, renfro are Tim Branney and Atom-James Draper. Tim sings the songs and Atom sources found-sounds. Together they write words and make music from recorded fragments. The songs …

The Ruling Class

Posted on by Knut in Nordic music, Reviews | 4 Comments

Shelflife records has given me some of my best musical moments this spring/summer, with brilliant releases from artists like Kuryakin, Days and now The Ruling Class. The format of their releases is quite special, since they combine the 7″ with a cd-ep in one release, – 2 songs on the 7″ and 4-5 different songs on the cd. I’ve been waiting for the debut from The Ruling Class since I first wrote about the project quite a long time ago. …

Club 8 remixed

Posted on by Knut in Nordic music, Songs | Comments Off

Eardrums favourites Club8 has a new single out on Labrador, the nice “Jesus walk with me” from their latest album. The single features two new tracks + remixes, – very nice remixes -, by Sound of Arrows and Jimahl. Both remixers do this “the right way” and work with the feeling of the song instead of making it a dance track with lots of bassdrums and electrosounds. This isn’t a dance track and shouldn’t be treated that way either. Brilliant …

Spoon Train Audio – another favourite label

Posted on by Knut in label profile, Nordic music | Comments Off

One of the more interesting things to happen in Norwegian music, – at least according to me -, is the arrival of a fairly new label called Spoon train Audio. They are driven by the love of good music, and their releases so far has definitely included good music. The label has released music by some of our favourite Norwegians, like Cold Mailman‘s brilliant debut-album, the fine indie pop act My Little Pony (who will release their debut album soon), …

Champagne Riot

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Nordic music, Other | Comments Off

Shelflife records has always represented quality to me, and their latest releases from Sweden’s Days, Kuryakin and the Ruling Class (UK/Sweden), are all wonderful. More about them later this week. The label will release an EP by Champagne Riot during the summer, and after giving it a few listens, I can assure you that the quality is present here too. Champagne Riot is basically one person, Casper, a Danish musician with a great passion for perfect, timeless pop songs. At …
