UPDATE: If you have problems with opening the zips, it’s just that the servers have gone a bit crazy because of all the downloads, and you haven’t received the whole thing. Try downloading once again, and it will probably work. Update 2: Nicolas has made a torrent file for us. You can use it to download the whole package. Find it on the download pages.
After weeks with planning, artist contact, receiving files, listening, tagging, more planning… we are finally finished with our compilation. It’s huge, and maybe not your typical summer compilation, but it shows what we like and it has a wonderful summer sound to it. I’m also very proud of the cover art, made especially for this project by two of my favourite illustrators, Alex Noriega and Helena Garcia.
Here are the albums (browse down for Volume 2)
Volume 1: Art by Alex Noriega
Download the zip’s, and while you do, you can read (or download) the pdf-files included with info about the artists and the compilation. Enjoy the music, and please leave a comment or a “review”. I would so much like to know what you think!! Also, if you notice anything wrong either in the text or with the sound, please contact me (contact-link in the left sidebar).

[UPDATED: I've made a mailinglist to get an update-message when the album is out + news about the album. Send an email to mailinglist-subscribe@eardrumsmusic.com to join!]
Hi there,
sorry for the lack of posts lately, but I’m busy making a brilliant, free compilation album for you, scheduled for release one of the days after this weekend, not sure yet which, but definitely before the 25th of june. The majority of songs are NEW and so far unreleased songs from some of our favourite bands, some are older but also unreleased and some are released and really good. The compilation will not only be one BUT TWO, and they will be packed full of songs. Should you start looking forward to this already now? Yes, I think so!
I’ll get back with a full list of artists when the last few tracks have arrived in my inbox.
So, is it ok that I spend all my free time on this compilation project for one more week, or should I rather get back to daily Eardrums-posts? (If this was a play or a movie, your line should have been “Yes, dear Knut, please continue with what you’re doing!”. Please rehearse on this and say it over and over again until the album is released, ok?)

One of our favourites, The School, will be live in session on 6Music with Tom Robinson from 7pm UK time today, friday.
The session will be broadcasted live on the internet, and you can also listen to it in a recorded version afterwards here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/tom_robinson
Their new brilliant EP, “Let it slip” is available now from www.elefant.com + from most decent record-shops, and from itunes.
Here’s the new video for the song “Let it slip”, followed by a video for “All I Want to do” further down:

After three years of blogging, I’ve decided to do something new with the blog for a change. I’m making a summer compilation album (maybe two…) with artists I like, – artists that make music in the same “musical neighbourhood” as the ones we write about on Eardrums. Melody will be in focus, and it will be music for the warmer seasons, – a summer album. We’ve set the theme to “music for a picnic, a garden party or a warm summer night”.
The album will be a digital only release, and the only place you can get it will be here on Eardrums. Several artists will share exclusive songs with us, – not published before. Some have been published/released before, but they are either super-fresh or they are so good that they deserve to be re-published…
No money involved, either for you, us or the artists. Free, that is.
I’ve already received several songs, and more are in the making as we speak. The style range from sunshiny pop, fuzzy pop, folky pop, nice and pure pop, electro-ish pop, acoustic pop – and some of you would probably like to add “indie” in front of pop, – please feel free to do so. Some songs are happy and carefree, other are more laidback and thoughtful. A varied album, just as the blog is, I hope.
The album is quite filled up already, but If you want to be a part of this and play in a band, you can send some music over to us and we’ll consider the songs. You can contact us at info@eardrumsmusic.com. Tell us about your music, and add a link to somewhere on the net where I can preview some songs (myspace/website). Since I’ve already invited several artists, I can not promise you a place on the compilation, but I definitely would like to hear your music!
Release will be in the last part of June or in the early days of July.
This is so much fun!
