Artists and tracks on the new Eardrums Compilation (autumn 2008)

September 17th, 2008 by Knut

I just posted the full (almost) list of artists and songs from the upcoming Eardrums Autumn Compilation in a journal on Last.fm. The new 4 volume (!) album will be called “A Good Crop”, and the release will most probably be here on the site on September 23 (for free).

I’m considering putting it out in two batches, – two volumes one week and two volumes the week after. I haven’t decided yet, but I fear that such a huge number of songs may be too much to listen to in one go, and that some smaller bands may “drown” in the attention some bigger bands may get.

What do you think about splitting it up? I’d appreciate your opinion on this and also your thoughts on the artist list!

You can read the list of artists here.

Cover art is by the German illustrator and musician Julia Guther (of the band Guther), the English Graphic designer Alex Ostrowski (of the band Kotki Dwa), the American painter/sculptor/artist Souther Salazar and the …eh… blogger Knut from the Eardrums blog…

I’ll add some songs some of these bands have available for free on last.fm here
(…and these are not the songs you will find on the compilation):

The Motifs – Backwards

Their hearts were full of spring – Your new favourite band

The Pains of being pure at heart – Kurt Cobain’s cardigan

Fanfarlo – Talking backwards

Colin Clary – Top Secret Secret Project

Like Honey – Unexpected

    I think splitting is a good idea… gives you more time to listen to all songs. 4 Volumes… wow, I really look forward to this! :)

    @Chris -
    Thanks for your opinion. I guess it will be splitted unless someone comes up with some good views against it. Best for all parts probably. I am really looking forward to releasing it!

  3. Gav Says:

    I’d split it too. Spread out the fun! And, yeah, I think that many songs, all at once, may be a bit daunting.

    Can’t wait, Knut! Looking forward to discovering more great bands!

    Thanks for the kind words! Glad you like them!
    I’m really satisfied with the new one, and I hope you will be too.

    I’ve been enjoying the ‘Summer’s Here’ compilations all summer and having recently discovered Their Hearts Were Full of Spring I’ll be looking forward to the next compilation too.

    Like everyone else so far I’m for spitting things up.

    @Andrew Brown -
    Thanks! The song we have from Their Hearts Were Full of Spring on this new compilation is wonderful. I’m really looking forward to the album they are making at the moment. Great music and nice people. The compilation will be splitted, and I’m working on the track listing as we speak.
