A new video from Ally Kerr + an old video from Ally Kerr (- not THAT old…)

Tweet Here is a new and nice animation video created by Akiko M for Ally Kerr‘s latest single “Amorino”: [youtube S1RxfjvN8eU] “Amorino” can also be found on Ally Kerr’s latest album “Off the radar”. Since Ally Kerr is one of the few artists I would call myself a fan of, I can’t resist adding another video from him too… Here’s “There’s a world”: [youtube PaZgALF1r2s]

Skansros – New Swedish indie-pop

Posted on by Knut in Other | Comments Off

Tweet Skansros is a new Swedish indie-pop band with several similarities to classic pop-bands like The Smiths and The Housemartins, except for one thing: They sing in Swedish. Maybe Jacob Hellman may be a better comparison? The band has just signed to Luxury Records, and will release their debut 3-track single “Drömmen om Skansros” on October 29.For those of you who are as impatient as I am, you can already now buy the download-version of the single from Klicktrack in …

Strawberry Fair

Tweet Strawberry Fair is the stage name of 25 year old Jenny Franzén from Ekerö, Sweden. She has been making her 60s-inspired jangly popsongs for a long time, and have released some of her songs on self-financed cd-r singles and compilations. Earlier this year, she released her “proper” 4-track EP “Strawberry Fair sings ‘I Can’t Do Anything’” on the Swedish label “Alltid Hela Tiden” (=”Forever Always” or something like that). All four songs are high quality indiepop, with a bit …

Sam Richardson

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Other | Comments Off

Tweet Today’s artist is Sam Richardson, a young history student from Brighton who according to himself spend all his time making music and drawing pictures. The University teachers would probably like him to spend his time more wisely, but I’m very happy with the way he has chosen to prioritize. Richardson’s music is definitely pop, very catchy, with delicious melodies and smart arrangements. Everything is electronic, with lots of quite sharp arcade game sounds, but Sam Richardson’s warm vocals and …

Pallers – New artist on Labrador Records

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Nordic music, Songs | Comments Off

Tweet Sweden’s Labrador Records have signed a new band, Pallers, with a sound that is quite different from the other artists on the label. It’s quite dark, electronic and has dreamy, reverbed vocals, – and in a way, it’s only the sound of the vocals that remind me of other Labrador artists, – which could be both good and refreshing. It just takes some time to get used to, and I haven’t made up my mind yet if I like …

My Little Pony releases debut album TODAY! …and it’s great!

Posted on by Knut in Nordic music, Other | 5 Comments

Tweet Just a short post to tell you that my Norwegian favourites MY LITTLE PONY will finally release their debut album today. It’s called “Think Too Much” and will be released on the small but great label Spoon Train Audio. Brilliant and  highly melodic indie-pop! The album is availalbe both from iTunes and Musikkonline in digital format (musikkonline is recommended, – cheaper and in better quality than iTunes), and I guess there will be links to other shops on the …

Rhys Marsh And The Autumn Ghost

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Nordic music | Comments Off

Tweet I’m currently completely in love with the music of Rhys Marsh And The Autumn Ghost.  Beautiful and very interesting to listen to at the same time. Rhys Marsh is originally from London, UK, but lives in Trondheim, Norway at the moment. On November 3rd, he will release his debut album “The Fragile State Of Inbetween” on Better Place Recordings. On the album, he uses as much as 17 musicians from bands like Jaga Jazzist, Änglagård and Anekdoten, and the …

Jules Etienne

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

Tweet Berlin-based artist Jules Etienne is not afraid to try out new things, – play a new instrument or take a completely new direction with his music. He works in several projects and constellations at the same time, all with quite different styles, – folk, indie-pop, more experimental stuff and electronica. When he records as Jules Etienne (which is his second and third surname), he plays all the instruments himself, – from the violin to the drums. His style is …

The Pale Corners

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

Tweet When I hear the name The Pale Corners, I’m reminded of two bands I liked very much in the 80s, The Brilliant Corners and The Pale Fountains. It’s the name, of course, but there’s something in The Pale Corners music that takes me right back to that era, – and it gives me a good feeling. I’ve only heard 3 songs from them so far, and all of them are really good pop songs. Bands who play good, jangly …
