An Indiecater Christmas

December 8th, 2008 by Knut

Front-Cover---An-Indiecater

Indiecater Records is the label alias for the fine blog Mp3hugger, and this Christmas the 100% digital label can present their own christmas album “An Indiecater Christmas”. 17 bands participate on the album, 13 of them are made especially for the album, and all of them are original christmas songs made by the artists who sing them. It’s interesting to hear how differently these bands have chosen to make their christmas songs. Some artists choose the traditional jingle bell/church bell version, while other have made have made some refreshingly original christmas songs (but still very much in the spirit of the season). Indiecater have worked closely together with the artists on this release, and as with all the indiecater releases, the majority of the income from the sales goes straight back to the artists.

To see the full tracklisting, you can go to the album page at the indiecater website. Some of my favourites include my fellow Norwegians in The Remington Super 60, one of my new favourite bands The Very Most (who also have this song on Cherryade’s christmas compilation “A very cherry christmas 4″ and who also released a brilliant album this year called “Congratulations Forever”), Jape & David Kitt with their beautiful and sad “I will cry this christmas”, of course the always brilliant Idaho with his classic “Santa Claus is weird”, Track a Tiger‘s warm “Once in the wine” and this beautiful song from Nina Hynes:
