I continue from where I left you yesterday, with more of my recommendations to recent singles and EPs that I’ve enjoyed from indie labels.

S K R I E T – Fåglarna (3 track single from Novoton)
This is a new Swedish project from the people behind Pascal, but it sounds nothing like their noisy guitar driven mother-project (at least doesn’t this first single sound like Pascal). Skriet (which means “The Scream”) play more dreamy, floating, long stretched music, but with a nice touch of pop. Their music was somewhere described as a mix between soft-kraut pioneers Harmonia and David Bowie’s “Heroes”, and I can definitely see the comparison. “Fåglarna” is the first single off their debut album, and it gets even better because of the brilliant remixes from Nordpolen and Hyper Plastic. Both of these add so much to the track, and unlike most other remixes, I see these tracks not as other versions of a song, but as songs on their own. This little single has been a wonderful surprise, and I am so looking forward to the full album. You can buy this single from klicktrack.

…and we continue with more good releases…
South Ambulance – #5 (6 track digital ep on indiecater records)
Not long after the release of #4, here is #5, out on MP3Hugger’s fine digital only label indiecater records. I liked South Ambulance in their Labrador days, but I think they are even better in 2009. The new #5-ep has several real gems on it, and especially the sound-dense second track “They stick together” is a masterpiece. I recommend that you buy #4 too, – it’s also a very good one. The indiecater eps are quite cheap, – only 2,50 Euro for this one. Style: Indiepop/shoegaze-pop/uplifted.

Yoyoyo Acapulco – The sudden death of a 7¨pet (5 track ep from Kitchen records)
Fun Norwegian ukulele pop on a French label. I’ve kept my eyes and ears on this band ever since I started the blog several years ago. Good melodies that seems to be made for sunny days. I like this! Available from most good download shops.

My Sad Captain – Good to go (digital single from stolen recordings)
This band has produced one great single after another, and this new single will be the last they release before the album is out any day now. “Good to go” is not my favourite song by My Sad Captain, but good enough for a recommendation from me. Their album “here and elsewhere” will be released on June 15th.
…and we’ve got more great releases for you:

Socialist Leisure Party – Tactical Pop! for Coffee cadets (8 track ep from Shelflife records)
I’ve had this for a while now, and loved it for a while now. This is jangly indie pop with good roots back to the 80s and Sarah Records (SLP features singer-guitarist Andy Hitchcock and bassist Kevin House, both formerly of Sarah Records-band Action Painting!). I had high expectations to this release since I had heard a couple of songs before the release, but this is much better than I dared to hope for. All these 8 tracks are brilliant pop songs. Buy it from the Shelflife website.

Thieves Like Us – Really like to see you again (4 track ep from Shelflife records)
I enjoyed Thieves like us’ dark electro pop on their recent album “Play Music”, but I like this one even a bit more. A lighter and more pop-oriented sound on this EP, in my ears.
MP3: Thieves Like Us – Really like to see you again
That’s it for now, but there will probably be a #3 in this series later this week. Hope you enjoyed it!
