New EP from Snippet, “The T shirt ep”
UK one man band Snippet (a.k.a. Johnno Casson) will release a new EP, “the Tshirt ep”, on 24th August. It has 5 tracks on it, including a new version of “lovely ugly people”, which he participated with on our own “Birdsongs, Beesongs” compilation earlier this year. The ep will be a limited edition handcrafted CD-only release with individually numbered packaging, and I’m told that there will be an extra surprise inside the cover.
The opening track “I love your t-shirt” is a super catchy and well produced little song, with lots of fun studio-added elements, funky rhythms and it even has some rare GOOD sounding auto-tune effects (yes, it IS possible!)… “Just a man” continues the fantastic catchyness, and like the opener, the lyrics show Snippet’s sense for seeing things from unusual and humourous angles. I’m not that much a fan of the instrumental “Lion step forward”, – a quite 90s sounding electronic pop-tune.
“Lovely ugly people” has charmed us before, and it still does. On the last track, “Love u 4 all time”, Snippet enters the world of reggae (!) and mixes his own electronic based indie-pop with fat reggae grooves and dub-like elements. Well, it sounds good, and the whole ep sounds especially good at times like these, when it’s hot outside and the sun is shining. This is summertime pop-something! (I actually don’t know what to call it, but it definitely is pop… + something…
)
You can listen to the songs on Snippet’s myspace: http://www.myspace.com/snippetcuts , from where you also can buy the album when it is released.

I was honored to be allowed to debut this EP, uninterrupted and in its entirety, this past Sunday on my internet radio show.
Needless to say “The T-Shirt” EP was overwhelmingly praised by the knowledgeable music lovers in the chat room, and is highly recommended by yours truly as a “must hear, must buy” release!
Keep on doing that magic you do, Snippet! You’re aces in my book!
