I have planned to write about This is Head several times, but for some reason, the words have never found their way to the screen. The band from Malmö, Sweden, have released a vinyl 7″ and a 12″ in limited editions + digital downloads on klicktrack/itunes, and soon, their debut full length album will be released by Adrian Recordings in collaboration with the band’s own label Enkelt. When This is Head finds titles for their releases, they do it “enkelt” (Scandinavian for “easy” or “simple”). The 12″ is called “0002″, the 7″  is called “0009/0008″ and the album will be called “0001″.

The story behind these numbers is that the band has named their songs chronologically from the day they started making them, and the first one, “0001″, didn’t fit in the epic indie/space-pop they developed. It will never be heard by anyone, according to the band, so they have decided to name their album after it instead…

This is Head’s music is a mix between 80s indiepop and 70s krautrock, with repetitive basslines in front, steady rhythms and a kind of dreamy (but very energetic) sound. The band describes it as a mix between Discovery channel, Autobahn and a car-crash…

No matter how you choose to describe it, this is interesting music and music that should be heard by many. Their debut album will be released this spring, – probably around February or March.

You should have a listen to This is Head on myspace.
