New video from Run Toto Run – “Catch My Breath”

Posted on by Knut in Other | Comments Off

We love Run Toto Run‘s music here at Eardrums, and when the videos match their music so perfectly as this one, we love Run Toto Run’s videos too. This colourful and creative video is directed by Nick Bentley, and this is just how I see Run Toto Run’s music: colourful and creative… Run Toto run has several really good new demos up on their myspace, – songs that probably will be on their debut-album. This single, “Catch my breath” can …

Two of my favourite Norwegian artists performing together, Moddi and Kråkesølv. The song is Moddi’s “Magpie eggs” from his upcoming debut “Floriography” (8.February). Moddi vs. Kråkesølv – “Magpie Eggs” (Moddi) from byLarm on Vimeo.

Album-release from This is Head this spring

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

I have planned to write about This is Head several times, but for some reason, the words have never found their way to the screen. The band from Malmö, Sweden, have released a vinyl 7″ and a 12″ in limited editions + digital downloads on klicktrack/itunes, and soon, their debut full length album will be released by Adrian Recordings in collaboration with the band’s own label Enkelt. When This is Head finds titles for their releases, they do it “enkelt” …

New single from Chariots of Tuna – “I’m so good at shining” – and it shines!

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases, Reviews | 4 Comments

Aahhh! A new single from Chariots of Tuna is better than Christmas, and this one is actually better than most things I can think of! I adored their debut single, as you can see from my review, but the band has really progressed since then, and this is even better than I had dared to hope for. The songwriting is even more to the point, the vocals are more focussed and better, and these two songs are two gorgeous pop-treasures …

Boy Genius – “Staggering”: Wonderful new album, – but do they want us to listen? (Update: Yes, they do!)

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases, Songs | 8 Comments

UPDATE: Jason from the band has updated us on the release-options of the album. See below for a comment from both me and him. I’m satisfied now! Brooklyn’s Boy Genius will release their second album “Staggering” January 26th 2010 via Greenpop recordings. This band only gets better and better.  I liked their debut album “Anchorage”. I liked their 2009-single “Blame Love” even more and I love almost everything on “Staggering”. I will get back to the “almost” later in this …

Paisley & Charlie, new single on Holiday Records

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases, Reviews | Comments Off

The UK duo Paisley & Charlie have released a very nice two-track single on Holiday Records, and like everything else on the label, this is also released for free. “Sebastian (Come Home)” is a lovely piano-driven pop-song with nice acoustic guitar-details, a lazy beat-loop and a really good chorus that will stay in your ears after the music has stopped playing. While Charlie does the main vocals on this one, Paisley sings on the next song, “Marble Halls”.  This is …

Dimbleby & Capper

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Songs | Comments Off

This morning has been spent listening to Dimbleby & Capper, the solo project of the 22 year old Laura Bettinson from London. As she says on her myspace, “there’s only one of me, not two. The ‘&’ is insignificant.” Bettinson’s music is extremely catchy and playful,- full of soul and rhythm, and I bet that we will hear a lot more from her in 2010.  Check out the fantastic “Slick Maturity” on her myspace page. Her debut ep will be …

New video and daytrotter session from LAKE

Just a short post today about one of my favourite bands, LAKE. If you haven’t got their albums already, get both their “Oh, the places we’ll go” and the 2009-release “Let’s build a roof” (both available from emusic and other digital shops). The band recently visited Daytrotter and did a wonderful session there.
