Neverest Songs is the one-man project of 28 year old songwriter Luke Twyman from Margate, UK, and it’s also the name written on one of my absolute favourite albums so far in 2010. I actually think it may be THE favourite album of mine so far this year. The best thing about this is that it’s one of those rare albums that keeps getting better for each listen. I always discover something new when I listen to it.
His debut album is called “Small Voyages”, and was released on Unlabel in January. It’s an album with 13 songs of pure beauty, and I can’t recommend it enough. This is music for late nights, and it probably sounds best accompanied with a good cup of tea, and with headphones on. I’m really not sure who I can compare his sound with, and the closest I can come is probably Owen Pallet/Final Fantasy, Inlets, or maybe My Brightest Diamond? Very, very good vocals and clever arrangements.
I think that’s all I want to say. I am always afraid to ruin my experience of music by analyzing it with words, and I don’t want to ruin this one.
When you buy the album, you also get a download-code for Neverest Songs’ “Show Yourself” EP . Also a very good one.
Now listen to this song, and head over to myspace and listen to more of Twyman’s beautiful songs.
Neverest Songs – Maria’s Clockwork Spirit (from Last.fm)

am listening to this now- it sounds nice, but not amazing (yet). but i like the look of the packaging, and the cheap price of it so i’ll order it and see how I like it!
The song I share here is not on the album, but on the ep you get with the album. I bet you will like it!
ta, didn’t listen to the song on your site, I just went straight to myspace- much easier for me to listen to stuff.
Efterklang is still my album of the year so far. I fear you haven’t found the love for it yet, but there’s this cool video of them doing one of their songs here:

I’m guessing it may be one of the songs you’re not keen on (just cuz it’s a quite different sound for them), so maybe the live versions spliced together might give you a different take on it.
Anyhow, shall look forward to the Neverest Songs album being posted to me. Should probably also look through that unlabel site/label- possibly some more good stuff on there?
Bought this cd the moment it came out. Agreed, the best of 2010 so far. Very beautiful and I highly recomend everyone picking up a copy!
You’ll be happy to hear that I love this little album now! It seemed a bit too understated for me to ever really like too much, but I keep coming back to it, so thanks!
I am very happy now, Paulo!
