Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Recommended Releases, Reviews | Comments Off

Tweet Kid Canaveral is a really nice indiepop quartet from St.Andrews, Scotland, who have made my ears happy with several good singles. My career as a fan started with the brilliant “Left and Right EP” from 2009, one of my absolute favourites last year. Their new single, “You only went out to get drunk last night” is released today, and their debut-album, “Shouting at wildlife“, will be released on the 5th of July. The single will be available on very, …

Tweet Tigercats is a new band from London, with Duncan Barrett of Esiotrot on vocals. They have a single out on Haircut Records soon, “Konny Huck”, and will be recording a new one in a couple of weeks. The band has played gigs with Tender Trap, Hexicon and Dum Dum Girls, and I expect great things from these people. You can listen to all the three songs from the single on myspace, and the lead track is available for download …

Pet Milk

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

Tweet I stumbled over this on a mailinglist I am a member of, and fell in love at once. The band I’m talking about is called Pet Milk, and it’s a new band from Philadelphia. They share  members with other favourites of mine, Brown Recluse and Paint it Black, and describe their music as “Noisy twee pop with ladyvocals. Songs about ex-lovers”. It’s really, really good. The demo also include a wonderful version of “Paint A Rainbow” by My Bloody …

News from Math and Physics Club

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases | Comments Off

Tweet Math and Physics Club are back with a new single, “Jimmy had a polaroid”, and a new album, “I shouldn’t look as good as I do”, next month on Matinée Recordings. The A-side of the single “Jimmy had a polaroid” is a catchy, upbeat pop-track in classic Math and Physics Club-style. The b-side, “The Sound of Snow” is my favourite of the two songs on the single. It’s an irresistibly beautiful song, only 1:31 long, with Charles Bert vocals …

New, free EP from Symfoniorkestern, and wow, what an EP!

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases | 2 Comments

Tweet In an earlier post this year, I wrote about the Swedish band Symfoniorkestern. Now the band has released their third EP, “Den lilla flykten”, and it’s better than anything they have released before. Songs like “Dagar för Dig” or “Västra Berga Brinner” are among the best I’ve heard from Sweden this year, and that says a lot. This is the first EP the band sell on CD (with a 16 page booklet), but it’s also given away as a …
