Best Coast – Crazy for you

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases, Reviews | Comments Off

Tweet Best Coast‘s awaited debut album “Crazy for you” is here, and it’s one great song after another, and there are 13 of them, including the bonus-track. Some of these songs are not easy to get out of your head after the first listen, and some are good enough to constantly run on repeat. As songs, they are fantastic, but put together as an album, I’m not that sure. She has her own way of writing songs, and sometimes she …

Wool Strings live-videos

Posted on by Knut in Other | Comments Off

Tweet These live-videos took my breath away today, so I just have to show them to you. It’s the Japanese artist Wool Strings, who have participated on our EardrumsPop compilations a couple of times, both as Wool Strings and as the collaboration Seasel. His beautiful music seems to be even stronger live. “Shirley Poppy” was on “A Good Crop” (free download here), and the live-version is quite different and very upbeat. Here are two more videos from the same concert. …

EP news, free song and new video from Looking Glass

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases | Comments Off

Tweet BEST FOOT FORWARD – LOOKING GLASS from Looking Glass on Vimeo. Looking Glass, the side-project from My Sad Captains‘ Jim Wallis, have made a song from their upcoming “The First Real Target”  EP available for free download on their bandcamp-page. Like his debut-album (also available from Bandcamp), this is mostly kept in an acoustic style. In my ears this is even better than the songs on his debut (which I liked a lot), – a more developed sound and …

Their Hearts Were Full of Spring-frontman recreates Serge Gainsbourg-album

Posted on by Knut Comments Off

Tweet Remember Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring, the band, not the Beach Boys song? I’m not sure how to interpret band-leader Mark Estall’s message on his site, but they seem to have disbanded, – at least temporarily. But, I’m not sure…  Their entire discography can be found on his website for free download (there are some donate buttons too on his site, so please give something back if you like the music!). Mark Estall has another very interesting project …

Summer-single from Tomas Halberstad

Posted on by Knut in Nordic music, Recommended Releases | 1 Comment

Tweet Swedish artist Tomas Halberstad will release a summer-single on the 10th August. It’s a double-A side called “Summer Love AA”, featuring the songs “Watch the tears” and “Must be in love”. None of these songs will appear on Halberstad’s forthcoming second album. It’s all about love, but as always with Halberstad, there is a feeling of melancholy in both these songs. The songs show two sides of love. Where “Must be in love” describes the complex feelings of the …
