Goodbye, for a short while…

Posted on by Knut in Other | 7 Comments

I’ll have to say goodbye for a short while, so the next week or two or three will be quite silent at Eardrums. I’ll be moving from my little island to a new house in the south of the country, and will probably be internet-less for some weeks. I guess my time for blogging will be very limited too… So, if you send me emails etc, I will probably not answer. My inbox is probably so full when I get …

Viking Dress – Lalie’s Game from Waterinc on Vimeo. I read about Viking Dress in the always excellent blog A Layer Of Chips today, and I absolutely love it. You can order their new ep from the band’s myspace-page. Enjoy! http://www.myspace.com/vikingdress

The Hillfields – “Come Outside” EP

Posted on by Knut in Recommended Releases, Reviews | 1 Comment

The Hillfields released one of my absolute favourite albums last year, with their debut  “It’ll never be the same again”. It’s still one of my favourite albums, – one of those I always come back to. A few weeks ago, The Hillfields released their new ep “Come Outisde” on Underused records, and it has become another favourite of mine.  The new ep sounds darker and rougher than the album, with a sound full of references to bands from the early …

Free, monthly digital singles from EardrumsPop!

Posted on by Knut in Other | Comments Off

This autumn we will start releasing a series of free, monthly digital singles on our netlabel EardrumsPop.The first release is planned in October. The singles will have all the qualities from the compilations, – good cover art, a booklet and of course good music in our own “warm and melodic”-genre (which usually means indiepop, folk-pop and melodic electronica). The singles will include 2 original songs + probably also a cover-song of a band the single-artist think deserve more attention (no …

New video from Darren Hayman & the Secondary Modern – Two Three Island

Isn’t this a lovely song and video? “Two Three Island” is taken from ex-Hefner singer Darren Hayman‘s upcoming fifth solo-album, “Essex Arms”. The album is the second in his trilogy about his home county of Essex, and it will be released on Fortuna POP! on October 4th.

Album news and free mp3 from Shrag

Brighton’s Shrag is a band who’s been around for some years, but who I have learnt to love only recently. I did not like their debut album from 2009 too much, but ADORED their previous single “Rabbit Kids / Erratic Fiction”. Their new song “Tights in August” is also an amazing indiepop-song, so lovely that I almost get tears in my eyes when I hear it. Tears of joy, of course. Their second album is called “Life! Death! Prizes!”, and …

The Lost Cavalry – “Waves Freeze To Rolling Hills”

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Recommended Releases | Comments Off

The Lost Cavalry is ex-Fanfarlo guitarist Mark West’s new band, and they release their debut EP “Waves Freeze To Rolling Hills” on their own label Two Six Heave today. Those of you who downloaded our free  “Between Two Waves” compilation may also remember him from the collaboration-project Saturnalia. The EP is a pleasure to listen to, and the amazing cover-art tops the experience.  The Lost Cavalry’s music is some kind of dreamy, folk-flavoured indie, with rich instrumentation and Mark West’s …
