Tweet Labrador Records share an mp3 of a new song from Club 8, “Closer Now”, which will be the band’s new single. The single will be released on November 23, and is described as “a melodic fusion of High-life, psychedelia, Stone Roses guitars, West African chants and rhythms … all gloriously mixed with Club 8′s special blend of Swedish pop hooks.” The song is not one of the 10 on Club 8′s recent album “The People’s Record”, but it has …

New single and video from My Little Pony

Posted on by Knut in Nordic music | 1 Comment

Tweet “Hard To Be Good” is the new single from Norway’s finest pop-band My Little Pony. The single will be released on October 4th on Spoon Train Audio. Their second album “Making Marks” will be released early next year. It is produced by Sjur Lyseid (The Little Hands of Asphalt, Monzano), who is responsible for more than the good sound on the album… He had a hard drive-crash on his computer, – lost the entire finished album -, so the …

Seapony with 7″ on Double Denim Records

Posted on by Knut in Songs | 3 Comments

Tweet Double Denim Records has announced that they will release a 3 track 7″ with Seapony on November 15. I’ve already shown my love for the Seattle-trio here at Eardrums, and this really makes me excited. The A-side will be “Dreaming”, and the B-sides will be two new songs, “So Low” and “Late Summer”. You can stream “So Low” from the label’s website, and it’s another good one from the band. The single will be limited to 300, and it’s …

Tweet http://vimeo.com/14569292 The people behind the website YoursTru.ly make videos of bands performing, among other things. There are quite a few sites doing that, but this one has some really nice videos on it. Two of their latest video performances are by two of my favourites at the moment, Magic Kids and How To Dress Well. There are some nice handwritten letters on the site too, and I believe they are written by the bands. According to Magic Kids’ label …

Kiss Kiss Fantastic | Optimist Park

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile, Recommended Releases, Songs | Comments Off

Tweet I’ve been enjoying the music of Kiss Kiss Fantastic for a while, and now I’m completely in love with the music of Optimist Park. Why do I mention these bands in the same post? Optimist Park is the solo-project of Jeremy from Kiss Kiss Fantastic, so I thought this was a great opportunity to finally write about both these bands on Eardrums. Kiss Kiss Fantastic are Jeremy and Rachel, who live on separate ends of USA, and who according …

Posted on by Knut in Nordic music, Recommended Releases, Reviews | Comments Off

Tweet Morr Music seem to find great music to release from all over the world, but Iceland has been a country they have visited more often than many others on their releases. I can mention Benni Hemm Hemm, Borko, Múm, Seabear, Sóley, Sin Fang Bous… Have I forgotten someone?  Wonderful artists, all of them. Their new signing is Pascal Pinon from Reykjavík, Iceland. Pascal Pinon is not a man, but two girls,  – the twins  Jófríður and Ásthildur-, and together …

Tweet Blank Dogs has released some of my favourite singles/eps on Captured Tracks, and now they have shared the first MP3 from new album, “Land and Fixed”. The new album will be released on Oct 12 on Captured Tracks. Here is “Northern Islands”: Blank Dogs – Northern Islands Captured Tracks have recently released good new singles from Further Reductions, Craft Spells (this one is especially good!), The Beets and Soft Moon (the links will open up the singles on Spotify).

Tomas Halberstad – “The Pendulum Swings Again” (video)

Tweet http://www.vimeo.com/15165077 Swedish artist Tomas Halberstad has a new double-A side single out now, “Autumn Fall AA”, and this is one of the songs on it. I really like the new direction of Halberstad, and his songwriting has in my opinion risen to another level with the latest two seasonal singles. The new single should be available in most digital shops by now. Great stuff!
