Loved Songs #4 – OsLove

Posted on by Knut in Love | Comments Off

Tweet   by  NRK P3  This has been a crazy week in Norway, and music has not been my main focus. We have experienced things so horrible that it was impossible to imagine before they happened. It’s been a time full of sadness, shock and mourning, but also a time full of love and caring. The Norwegian people and the leaders, especially the PM, have done everything right in this situation. Revenge and hate has not been a focus at all, but …

New single from Be Like Pablo

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet Be Like Pablo captured my heart with their gorgeous debut-single “Julianne/The Post It-song”, and they keep the fortress with their new super-melodic single “Spirit of Adventure”/”Oh, Emily”. The single is a double A-side, and both songs are definitely good enough enough to be lead-tracks. You can buy their single, both physical and digital, from the band’s Bandcamp-page.

The Nocturnes

Tweet The Nocturnes  is a band led by Red Sparowes guitarist Emma Ruth Rundle, and they have made a beautiful video and single called “The Road”, as a preview of their forthcoming second album, Aokigahara. The new album is said to blend hints of folk, shoegaze, chamber pop, goth and post-rock, which sounds pretty interesting to me. You can download the single for free at Bandcamp, including two beautiful remixes of the track. The album is set for release on …

Tweet Colorama have announced their next release will be a mini-album entitled ‘Llyfr Lliwio’ (‘Colouring Book’), slated for October 24th. 6 of the 7 songs are sung in Welsh. This is the first taster from the release, and it’s really, really beautiful! Colorama – Llyfr Lliwio (Colouring Book)

Kids

Tweet The San Diego-quintet Kids have just released their first and very good EP “Summer Frights” for free on Bandcamp. The young members of the band (aged 17-19) recorded the EP in their bassist’s bedroom, but it certainly does not sound like a bedroom-product. Great songs, beautiful vocals, great melodies and very decent sound. The band started in 2009, but have been playing with today’s lineup since February 2011. My favorites on the EP are the lovely pop-opener “Hidden Hills”, …

New song from Widowspeak

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet One of the bands I have discovered in 2011 who have made the biggest impression on me, is Widowspeak. They have released a couple of beautiful singles on Captured Tracks, “Harsh Realm/Burnout” and recently the amazingly good “Gun Shy”, and now they have set the date for the release of their self-titled debut-album on the same label. The album will be out on August 9, and I am so looking forward to it. A new song from the album …

Goodies from the mailbox

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet Some good stuff that has arrived in my mailbox the last few days: Geoffrey O’Connor from Crayon Fields/Sly Hats will be releasing his new album Vanity is Forever  on September 27th on Chapter Music. He has a free download of a song from the album on Bandcamp: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart has a new song on the b-side of their single “The Body”. It’s called “Tomorrow Dies Today”, and you can listen to it on Soundcloud: …

New EP from Tiny Fireflies

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet   Most of our regular readers probably know this band already. Tiny Fireflies started as a result of our netlabel EardrumsPop‘s collaboration compilation Between Two Waves, where they released their first composition, “Don’t Wait Until I Fall Asleep”. Lisle and Kristine have their separate projects, Fireflies and Tiny Microphone, and they play together in Very Truly Yours and as a duo in Tiny Fireflies. After their first free 3-tracked single on EardrumsPop (incl. beautiful songs like “Snow”), they are …
