When I first heard this debut-single from London’s SULK, I was instantly set back to my younger years, when I listened a lot to bands like The Charlatans, The Stone Roses, Ride, Inspiral Carpets, Blur, Suede, Boo Radleys etc.. Especially the first album from The Charlatans, “Some Friendly”, has this sound, – and this look, – and The Stone Roses as well, – both the sound and the look.
So, they’re not unique, but they are good, and their melodies are lovely, – and listening to SULK makes me happy. That’s good enough for me.
The band’s single “wishes” will be out on the Perfect Sound Forever-label on 15th August.
