Tweet It’s Friday, and we’re ready for another “Loved Songs”-playlist. Lots of great releases this week as well. I have especially enjoyed the debut from Gospel Music, the new album from Jonathan Johansson and The Hardy Boys. Big Deal is finally available on Spotify with new music. Their album is probably in my top 3 this year. So, enjoy the playlist, and please spread it around on twitter, facebook and everywhere else! Here is this week’s Spotify playlist, and you …

New album from The Hardy Boys – “British Melancholy”

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet Indiepop-veterans The Hardy Boys have a new release in the shops, the album “British Melancholy”, on Bubblegum Records. I’m not sure if the band will enjoy this comparison, but I really get a feeling of a more jangly version of The Housemartins when I hear their songs. I love the Housemartins, and The Hardy Boys have several of their qualities, – wonderful melodies, brilliant lyrics, and that always moving bassline that I love so much… The album includes 11 songs, …

Loved Songs # 15 – A #Spotify playlist with new #indiepop / #folk and #electronica from the past week

Posted on by Knut in Love | Comments Off

Tweet  photo  by  epSos.de  As usual on Fridays, I post my weekly Spotify playlist with my favourite new songs from the recent week. This week has been full of brilliant releases, and I am especially happy about the Acid House Kings/Dan Treacy single, the new single from Standard Fare, the Spectrals album and the new lovely album from My Brightest Diamond. I thought I’d never say this, but I do actually like the last R.E.M. single, that was released this week. …

Live album from Egil Olsen

Posted on by Knut in folky | Comments Off

Tweet Oh, how I love this artist, Egil Olsen. He must be the friendliest, nicest and funniest singer-songwriter I know of, and he makes really nice songs too. I’ve listened to his music for a long time, – ever since he released his first single “Mike and Ike” as Uncle’s Institution in 2001, and he’s always had high quality on his releases. Egil Olsen is a multitalented man, and he illustrates his cover art and makes his own videos as …

2:54 – Scarlet

Posted on by Knut in Bandprofile | Comments Off

Tweet This is harder and darker than the music I usually post here on Eardrums, but I find it very interesting and beautiful. I am weak for woods in videos as well. 2:54 is definitely a band I need to look deeper into. The “Scarlet” EP is released November 14 on Fiction What do you think?

New mp3 and video from Gospel Music

Tweet Gospel Music,  the side project of Black Kids bassist Owen Holmes, will release the debut-album “How to Get to Heaven From Jacksonville, FL” on Kill Rock Stars 25. October. I’ve already had a listen to the album, and it’s definitely a strong debut, full of great songs and good lyrics. I really like the rough beauty in Holmes’ songs. Gospel Music released one of my favourite EPs last year, “Duettes” , where he sang together with Shirley Simms from The Magnetic Fields, …
