The Ice Choir – new project from TPOBPAH’s Kurt Feldman

Posted on by Knut in dreampop, indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet The Pains of Being Pure at Heart/The Depreciation Guild’s Kurt Feldman has started a new side-project, The Ice Choir, together with Raphael Radna (also from The Depreciation Guild), Patrick South and Avery Brooks. The new band has a clear 80s synth-pop sound, not too far from artists like Scritti Politti, and I must say that Feldman and Green Gartside has some vocal similarities… The pop-melodies on these songs are strong, and Kurt Feldman’s vocals are – as always – a …

Tweet   photo by  seagreene  It’s Friday, and another Spotify-playlist of my Loved Songs from this week is ready. All of these are from new releases, or at least releases that are new on Spotify. As usual, if you’re interested in hearing more from one artist, just click on the artist- or album-name in the playlist, and you can hear the whole album. I’m especially excited about the songs and releases from King Krule (a very young new talented guy from …

Moscow Youth Cult

Tweet I’ve enjoyed more electronic – or maybe semi-electronic – albums this year than I’ve done in the last 5 or maybe 10 years. When I was younger, I listened a lot to electronic music and I even played in a few synth- and electronica bands. This year, I’ve fallen in love with albums from Little Dragon, SBTRKT, Apparat, Biosphere, James Blake, Chad Valley, The Chap (although it’s a compilation of older songs), Dark Captain (which is only partly electronic), Lullatone, …

Tweet This is the new video for The Lost Cavalry‘s single “Snow City Radio”, the title-track from their upcoming EP. The EP will be available on November 21, but if you’re one of the lucky ones that have Spotify available, the EP is already available there. Four absolutely lovely songs!

Slothbear

Tweet Slothbear from Long Island, NY, have a new EP out now called “Canter On”. It’s on Bandcamp both as a digital “name your price” download and as a physical digipak CD. The band play fuzzy melodic pop with great grooves and nice, jangly guitars and sometimes half-psychedelic improvisations. I had a moment where I thought it was REALLY  psychedelic and chaotic, but then I realized I had TWO bandcamp players playing at the same time… The EP is highly …

Birdwatchers – lovely harmonic indiepop from Seattle

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Tweet I recently checked out the music of one of my new twitterfriends. They’re called Birdwatchers, and this is the stage name of married couple Tim and Emily O’Neill from Seattle. The band have a free ep out on Bandcamp, with five lovely, harmonic indiepop-songs with jangly guitars and a kind of surf-pop feeling to it.  The EP is called “Kissing Friends EP”, and it should be downloaded by every single reader of Eardrums. I enjoyed it a lot. You …
