I think this is my new favourite band. I absolutely love their amazing songs and the beautiful atmosphere they manage to create with their music.

Cigarettes After Sex is a quartet from El Paso, Texas, and their music is slow, dreamy and beautiful with gorgeous, tender vocals and very good lyrics. They have a lot in common with bands like Mazzy Star and early Red House Painters, and they also name the Trinity Session, Julee Cruise and Cocteau Twins as their influences themselves.

They have two lovely releases up on Bandcamp, – their new one “Affection” and “I.”. The latter includes my favourite song at the moment, “Nothing’s gonna hurt you baby”. Beautiful beyond words.
