I do still read a lot of music blogs, and it’s one of the many ways I keep myself updated on new music

. I even discovered some new bands while writing this article!

Some of these blogs have shaped my taste in music for years, and I think it’s good to show them some love and send you over to give them a visit

Gold Flake Paint

One of the artists you can read about on Gold Flake Paint is Cross Record.

Gold Flake Paint has been around for years and have been a big influence on the music I listen to for a very long time. It’s a place where I often get those “wow”-experiences, and where I discover so much good new music. Gold Flake Paint also has its own label, Gold Flake Tapes. The music you’ll find on the blog are mostly in the indie/lo-fi bedroom pop/indiepop-genre.

Just Music I Like

Just Music I Like has been a favourite for some time, and they often match my taste. The style is usually folky, singer/songwriter, and occasionally rougher indie/indiepop and electronic pop.

The Grey Estates

The Grey Estates writes about melodic indie, often with a rougher sound, but their style is fairly eclectic. They often have bands doing guest mixes, and also posts some interesting interviews.

Me and without my echo have very similar taste in music, and everything they share on their blog could easily have been shared here on Eardrums Music. I always find good music on wme, and it’s a trusted quality source of good pop.

From Pop 2 Top

One of the bands you can read about in From Pop 2 Top is the Japanese indiepop quartet I Saw You Yesterday.

I discovered From Pop 2 Top through their wonderful youtube-channel first, but later I found that they have a rather wonderful blog too. This one have introduced me to so many good bands, mostly in the dreampop/shoegaze genre.

Piggledy Pop

One of the bands you can read about in Piggledy Pop is Pale Spectres.

Piggledy Pop is a very well written blog in French that has covered many of my favourite bands, and when they mention something I haven’t heard about before, I trust that it’s good before I even press play. The style is mostly melodic indiepop. (A disclaimer is probably right here: Piggledy Pop have written about my own music. But that’s not why I love them. Just had to say it…)

So Said K

One of the bands you can read about in So Said K is Alpaca Sports.

So Said K don’t post that often, but when they do, it’s good! They post mainly melodic indiepop, and also have some good interviews with the bands on their site. Well worth a visit!

Throw the Dog a Bone

One of the bands you can read about in Throw the Dog a Bone is Maybe Don’t.

Throw the Dog a Bone is one of the reasons I restarted Eardrums Music. The blog is run by Trev from Odd Box Records, and was started just before I restarted mine. Trev used to blog at the time I ran the first version of Eardrums Music, but quit – around the same time as I quit. When he restarted, I got inspired, and started up again too. TtDaB features mostly the rougher side of indiepop and he has some brilliant podcasts on his site as well.

The Sound of Confusion

One band you can read about in The Sound of Confusion, is Flowers.

The Sound of Confusion is both a blog and a radio show, and they have been around since 2011. Their style is melodic indie, shoegaze, post-punk, indiepop, garage, electronica, alt-rock, new-wave, psychedelia, dreampop and it is quite varied and well written, with quite long and detailed posts and reviews. A really good site to visit for new music.

The Finest Kiss

You can hear new music from among others Versing on The Finest Kiss.

The Finest Kiss has a name taken from one of my favourite bands, The Boo Radleys, and that alone is enough to love this blog. There are plenty of other reasons too. Toby has a very good taste in music, and his finds are always something I enjoy

. His posts are usually focused on  indie with rougher and jangly guitars, and his favourite singles from last year were from several bands we love, like No Ditching, Diet Cig, Terry, Slum of Legs, Dear Tracks and The Death of Pop. He’s been around for as long as Eardrums Music has been around, but without the breaks.

Bloodbuzzed

One of the bands you can read about in Bloodbuzzed is Hideous Towns.

Spanish blog Bloodbuzzed is run by the nicest guy around, Raül, and he writes (in English) about his new finds in the indiepop world, but also sometimes about books he reads, movies he’s seen and festivals he plans to visit. If you visit Bloodbuzzed, you can expect to discover several great new bands at once, since he often posts about 3 bands in one go (“New Indie Findings”) or make great Soundcloud mixtapes with several brilliant bands (“The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox”). He also interviews bands and labels, and reviews music and books.

Tweendie

Postal Blue is one of the bands you can read about and hear in Tweendie.

Tweendie is – as the name suggest – an indiepop blog with a focus on the sweeter, melodic, jangly side of the genre. It is written in French and feature good and detailed posts about the bands. They don’t update too often, but when they do, it is a good place to find the best music from the genre.

For the Rabbits

Witching Waves is one of the bands you can read about in For The Rabbits.

For the Rabbits has become more and more important to me, and they always give very good recommendations. I love their “5 things we liked this week” series, which is great for lazy people like me, who want to “binge listen” to a lot of new music in one go. Their style is mostly melodic indie, dreampop/psych/shoegaze/jangly indiepop and sometimes also more folky stuff. Quite eclectic, but always interesting.

Wake the Deaf

Seoul based indiepop band Table People is one of the bands Wake The Deaf have written about.

Wake The Deaf is a very good designed blog, and although they have been around for a while, they are a newcomer to my reading-list. Their focus seems to be indie, indiepop, folk and a lot of artists you probably haven’t heard before, so if you’re looking for a new favourite artist, this may be your place
. The blog is well written, and also feature books, interviews, reviews and mixtapes.
