The Blog That Celebrates Itself has over the years released several good tribute compilations from bands like Chapterhouse, Pale Saints, Suicide, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order, Sonic Youth, The Smiths, Ride, Cocteau Twins and more. Now it’s time for a tribute to one of my all time favourite bands, The Boo Radleys. Their wonderful songwriting and their ability to reinvent themselves from album to album was – and is – rare.
The compilation features 13 songs from bands like The Death of Pop, 93MillionMilesFromTheSun, Lava Divers, Juvenile Juvenile and others, and the selection of songs are from the whole career of the Boo’s. Both the covers and the curation are surprisingly well done – and I say “surprisingly” because I have heard so many horrible indie tributes in my time, so I started listening with low expectations. It became a pleasant trip through so many wonderful songs, and I realize that it’s time to dig up all my Boo Radleys albums again.
You can buy this from Bandcamp at a price of your choice. And you should.
