For some years now, I have made these monthly summaries of what I really, really liked that month.
Here is my summary of the releases I loved the most in MAY.
This month has been filled with other time-consuming projects, like my own music video, my music and my art, so, no proper reviews this time. I will only add the genre or short descriptions of the music I have found interesting. Sorry!

SINGLES I LOVED THIS MONTH

Hannah Peel
From the singles this month, I especially liked the new songs from:
Hannah Peel – “Kiss me first” The queen of analogue and modular synths are back with ANOTHER brilliant single. Catchy chorus, in the style of those classic synth pop songs. Makes me warm inside. (Spotify)
Blushh – “I’m over it” Rough bedroomy indie with a powerful chorus. A “Jump around and sing” track. (Spotify)
Young Scum – “Wasting time” Summery indiepop with jangly guitars and beautiful soft vocals. (Spotify)
Azure Blue – “Love will see you through” Amazingly beautiful classic-sounding synthpop-track

Bellman – “Just like a dream” Dreamy, warm, big-sounding and sooo beautiful. (Spotify)
Family Values – “If I can’t love her” Catchy powerpop from Oslo, with handclaps, oooh’s, jangly guitars and cool organ. And of course a great melody. (Spotify)
Young Hunting – “Blue dream” Soft vocals, great melodies and atmosphere, – reminds a bit of the band Cigarettes After Sex. (Spotify)
500 mil – “Mekano, andre delen” Very interesting Swedish indiepop/powerpop duo, and this upbeat song has become a favourite of mine. Great chorus, great verse, great bridge, great lyrics – great song. (Spotify)
Soft Science – “Sooner” Dreampop with rough guitars, big synths and lovely vocals. (Spotify)
Mikey Collins – “Sound in here” Debut solo single from the drummer in Allo Darlin’. A very fine indiepop track, – perfect for your summer mixtape. (Spotify)
Jessica’s Brother – “Humdinger” A laid-back guitar pop track with lovely lyrics and a great, relaxed summer-feel. (Spotify)

Vive la void – Vive la void || Solo project of Sanae Yamada, co-founder and keyboard player of Moon Duo. Dreamy electronic pop. (Spotify)
Tigercats – Pig ears || Indie pop with tropical beats. (Spotify)
Peach Kelli Pop – Gentle leader || Uptempo (sometimes very upbeat…) janglepop with a touch of both rough garage and twee-sweetness. (Spotify)
Ari Roar – Calm down || Bedroom pop. Reminds a bit of Syd Barrett. (Spotify)

Belly – DOVE || Reunion of the 90s indie band. Ok album, but I am kind of disappointed due to my expectations. (Spotify)
The Finks – Rolly nice || Calm, melodic pop from New Zealand, out on Courtney Barnett’s Milk! label. (Spotify)
Dear Nora – Skulls example || Folky indiepop from influental artist Dear Nora. It is 13 year ago since she released anything as Dear Nora. (Spotify)

The Creation Factory – The Creation Factory || VERY 60s sounding album, and even the album cover and the band’s look are very 60s. If I didn’t know, I would have mistaken this for being released between 1965-69. (Spotify)
TV Girl – Death of a party girl || Kind of nostalgic pop, synthy pop with guitars, strings and samples, light feeling music-wise. (Spotify)
The Spectors – Ooh Aah Aah || Dreamy and very melodic indiepop with fine harmonies, (Spotify)

Chvrches – Love is dead || I’ve only listened to a couple of songs, but I am sure most of the rest are pretty ok. Electro-pop. (Spotify)
