The Very Most is one of my favourite bands, and for every song I hear by them, I seem to love them more and more. Their friendly attitude is easy to love as well. The band has made a new video for their song “Patricia”, – the lead track from their EP with the same name.
The EP is highly recommended, and can be purchased at http://www.villageten.com/store/patricia/ for as little as $1.50.
Very Truly Yours have made a video for their new single “Girls Tell You Secrets”, which is out on vinyl through Cloudberry Records. The video is filmed on Super 8 Ektachrome at Montrose Beach in Chicago.
It’s Friday, and time for another “Loved Songs” Spotify-playlist from me. This time, it features new goodies from Big Troubles, Butcher Boy, Lucky Lucky Pigeons, The Drums, Real Estate and lots more. I hope you enjoy it, and if you do, please spread it around to your friends!
Sometimes Always is a wonderful band from Indonesia, who we released a 4 track EP with on our netlabel EardrumsPop late last year. I played around with some video-editing software, some public domain footage from the 60s and ended up with this video for their song “Be True”. You can download the full EP, including this song, for free on EardrumsPop.com.
Hope you like it!
Evans The Death will be releasing their debut album via Fortuna POP! early next year. Before that though, they release their eagerly anticipated second single ‘I’m So Unclean’ on 6 September.
Adam Ficek used to call himself Roses Kings Castles when he made music outside of his main band, Babyshambles, but now it’s shortened to RKC. RKC is now his main band, – he has left Babyshambles. He made two really nice albums as Roses Kings Castles, – very melodic, sweet, quirky indiepop -, and my guess is that the name-change also has something to do with a change in style musically. This is what we can read about the new album on his website:
“Being influenced more and more from his other passion in electronic music, the third album ‘British plastic’ draws upon the brash guitar of classic British acts underpinned with big room production; a sonic scuffle between The Buzzcocks and the Beta band.”
The first single from the album is given away for free on Bandcamp. Listen/download below:
I just read this fresh interview with The Jesus and Mary Chain-bassist Douglas Hart, talking about the very first days of the JAMC. I just wanted to share the link with you. Listening to “Psychocandy” now, loud on headphones, and it makes my day so much better.
This is the new video for “Cukcoo”, the first single from Still Corners‘ debut full-length “Creatures of an Hour”, due for release by Sub Pop on October 11.
Mint Julep, the husband-wife duo Keith and Hollie Kenniff, has made the first song from their upcoming album “Save Your Season” available for free download. “Aviary” is a lovely, upbeat pop-track, mainly based on electronics and with Hollie Kenniff’s dreamy vocals on top. “Reminds me of Cocteau Twins…” says one of the people who have commented the track on Soundcloud, and I agree. The two bands definitely work in the same musical neighbourhood.
The Kenniffs are also responsible for several other interesting projects, – all favourites of mine, in fact.
Together, they recently released a wonderful childrens’ album as Meadows, and they will also be releasing a more ambient album together as Hollie & Keith Kenniff, “A Deep and Dreamless Sleep”, which will be released on Unseen in the early Autumn this year.
Keith Kenniff has released some of my absolute favourite albums asHelios and Goldmund, where the first is ambient electronica and the second could probably be called neo-classical piano-based music. The new Goldmund album, “All Will Prosper”, will be released on Western Vinyl in November. The album is a collection of songs from and inspired by the American Civil War.
Here is the new Mint Julep track + a few tasters from the couple’s other projects. All of their releases can be bought both in physical and digital versions from their Unseen-website:
