New mp3 and album from The Beets

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

The Beets has grown from being a band I liked, but didn’t listen much to, into a band I love and listen a lot to. I am not completely sure what did this, but I think their album combined with long walks and lots of sunshine has something to do with it. The band have recently signed to Hardly Art and have a new album, “Let The Poison Out”, ready for release on October 24th.

Here’s a taster from the upcoming album:

Big Deal – “Chair” (video)

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | 1 Comment

The duo Big Deal have recently released one of my favourite albums this year, “Lights Out” (MUTE). It’s one of those I can’t find anything wrong with, – just an album that is very close to perfect in my book. Now, they have a new video for their song “Chair” + they will be the main support act for Cloud Control on their U.K tour which kicks off on 27th September at The Cavern in Exeter and finishes at The Scala in London on 12th October.

You can stream the full album on Soundcloud:

I know it’s late, but I really haven’t seen the need for it before, – and I’ve always liked to keep a low profile. Now, after having seen what a great place Facebook is for promoting our label, EardrumsPop, I have started a Facebook page for the blog as well. It will be used for many things:

  • I will post links to my latest blog posts
  • I will post news and recommendations that I for some reason don’t make a full blogpost about
  • You will find excited shouts about my favourite albums, loved songs or THE band I LOVELOVELOVE at the moment.
  • AND I hope to hear YOUR voice there, with YOUR recommendations, thoughts etc.. I need some input as well!

Here is the address for Eardrums Music’s Facebook page (we’re few, but growing rapidly – PLEASE join us!):

…and if you haven’t already, please join our netlabel, EardrumsPop, as well:

Laura K – new free single – 3 gorgeous POPsongs!

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

It’s a special day for the EardrumsPop-team today! (EardrumsPop is our netlabel) We have a new, free release available, – a gorgeous 3 track single from the Australian-born/London-based artist Laura K. I have decided not to even TRY to stay away from using superlatives and BIG words about this, our own, release, because it is so good, that I can’t avoid using such words even if I had tried really hard. Laura is also a member of another favourite band of mine, Tigercats, and I believe it’s her voice that can be heard on Tigercats’ wonderful track “Jonny” from their latest EP.

You can download the full single for free here: http://www.eardrumspop.com/2011/09/12/epop018-laura-k/

The 3 track single comes with artwork from Sarah Lippett, who recently was a part of the Vostok5 exhibition together with Darren Hayman, Paul Reins (of Hexicon/Allo Darlin), Rotifer and Duncan Barrett (of Tigercats/Esiotrot).
Our friends Julia Pax and Andrej Dolinka have also made a wonderful booklet with info, photos and interviews.

Listen to the single here, and please please please spread the word! Tweet it, Like it on Facebook, Blog it etc, – it means a lot to us if you do!

New video from Fanfarlo – “Replicate”

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

The first song from Fanfarlo‘s new album is “Replicate”, and it shows a new side of the band. I think I need to listen to this a few times before I can say if I like it or not, but I am definitely fascinated by the sound and the style. The video is made in collaboration with Alex Southam. The band will go on a small tour for the next months, and you can go to their website to see the dates.

So, what do you think of the new song?

Dan Treacy sings with Acid House Kings

Posted on by Knut in indiepop | Comments Off

Television Personalities‘ front-man Dan Treacy has teamed up with Acid House Kings on their upcoming single “Heaven Knows I Miss Him Now”. The single contains two new songs, and Treacy does the lead vocals on “Heaven….” with fellow TVP-member Texas Bob on guitar.

On the B-side, you can find the track “Lost and Found”. The single will be out via Labrador Records on 7″ and digital on October 18th.

I’ve loved Television Personalities for over 20 years now and it’s still one of my favorite bands throughout all times. I guess the fact that my other band Club 8 has stolen two album titles from them gives a hint of my admiration…
- Johan Angergård, Acid House Kings.
