The history of the Eardrums compilations:
After 3 years of blogging for Eardrums, I wanted to do something different, – try another way to tell the world about the artists I loved.
Early 2007, I started the Eardrums micro-label.
I sent out requests to several of my favourite artists and to some of my favourite illustrators. The result was “Summer’s here!”, a two-volume summer compilation in June 2007, and “A Good Crop”, an autumn compilation in 4 volumes released in September 2007. The compilations have been featured in a huge number of blogs and websites, on podcasts and radio (both local and national).
The Eardrums compilations are all free to download, and they are only available as digital downloads. No cd’s will be printed for these, and no money will be involved for any parts of the project.
All of the compilations made so far have MELODY as a key element. They feature both indiepop, shoegaze, folk-inspired songs, electronica and more experimental music, but everything is highly melodic, always.
Since I also have a huge interest in illustrations and art, this is also a major part of the compilation-project. All compilations have cover art specially made by one of my favourite illustrators (except one of the covers, which I had to make myself).

We’re here for the love of music!
Our goal is not to give you free music. Our main goal is to tell you about all the brilliant artists on these compilations, give you some wonderful listening-pleasures, and to make you want to go out and support the artists in some way. In the pdf-booklet, you will find information about all the artists, and there is also a link to the artist’s website/myspace. If you like the compilation and the artists, go to their websites, find a way to support them. Buy their records, go to a concert, tell some friends about them, buy a t-shirt or even a button. Write about them (or these compilations) in your blog, or play them in your radio-shows or podcast. Eardrums is not a promo-agency for any of these artists, but we like to tell the world about music we love, and we’d love the world to love the artists as much as we do!

Give something back to someone else than us!
These compilations are free, and WE don’t want your money. But we advice you to give something back to the artists. Buy their music, buy t-shirts, go to their concerts…
Many of the artists haven’t released anything yet and they may not even have merchandise for you to buy. If you like the compilations, and you can’t find a way to directly support the artists, but you want to give something back:
Please, donate some money to one of the organizations our co-writer Lotte have picked especially for the Eardrums compilation project. Be kind.
THESE ARE THE CAUSES LOTTE HAS PICKED FOR US:
MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES (MSF):
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organisation that provides emergency medical assistance to populations in danger in more than 70 countries. In countries where health structures are insufficient or even non-existant, MSF collaborates with authorities such as the Ministry of Health to provide assistance. MSF works in rehabilitation of hospitals and dispensaries, vaccination programmes and water and sanitation projects. MSF also works in remote health care centres, slum areas and provides training of local personnel. All this is done with the objective of rebuilding health structures to acceptable levels.
In carrying out humanitarian assistance, MSF seeks also to raise awareness of crisis situations; MSF acts as a witness and will speak out, either in private or in public about the plight of populations in danger for whom MSF works.

NORWEGIAN REFUGEE COUNCIL
More than 1 million people are living as refugees in DR Congo. Thousands of people are struggling to survive. The Norwegian Refugee Council have managed to maintain 4 refugee camps, in addition to education projects, distribution of emergency aid articles and surveillance of the need for protection in Northern Kivu. At the moment the organisation is working hard to give people roof over their heads, food, matresses, and education for the children. They need all the support they can get. If you want to give a onetime contribution to the NRCs work, you can use this bankaccount number: 8380.08.06006

SAVE THE CHILDREN
Save the Children needs your support to help us meet the most critical needs of children and families in Gaza. Your donation will help provide drinking water, improved sanitation, food distribution and other necessities. Save the Children also provides helplines for children in disstress, and advice for parents on how to console their children if they are suffering from signs of stress. The organization also is packaging safe play kits for quick distribution to Gazan children, which will support their coping mechanisms and allow a return to normalcy.
